ABOUT

Wîci specializes in giving you a mellow, contemporary sound with a difference. Our musical genres include traditional jazz standards, latin jazz, Cuban, salsa, rumba and more modern tunes with an interesting twist. At the core of Wîci is Steve and Kirstie: Steve plays guitar and vocals, while Kirstie plays conga/cajon/hand percussion and lead vocals.

Steve has played guitar for over 40 years in a variety of bands and genres, but more recently followed his love of latin, cuban and jazz music to provide an interesting and entertaining musical experience. Kirstie started singing and playing guitar 14 years ago. Her voice is unique and different, and she is capable of delivering a variety of genres from rock classics to gentle ballads.

Steve and Kirstie have worked together for the last 21 years, and now play in a variety of locations in both Jersey and the UK. Our third wheel is Matt. Matt is a music teacher by trade, and we wouldn’t be without him. His skills on trumpet, keys and cabasa know no bounds. His laid back and easy going approach fits perfectly with the ethos of Wîci - evidenced by his favourite (new) saying of “if in doubt - cabasa it out!”

Wîci is a flexible unit, performing as a duo, trio, quartet or more. As such, we have a variety of incredibly skilled musicians who we also work with, to expand the percussion or horn section as befitting the environment.

With such lengthy musical experience, Wîci have developed the skill of “reading a room” to judge the tempo and musical mood required based on audience reactions. Artists covered include (but are not limited to) Antonio Carlos Jobim, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Ed Sheeran, Santana, David Bowie and The Specials - Wîci know no musical boundaries! With over 300 songs in our repertoire, we never run out of tunes and there is always someone for everyone.
